Picture Restaurant - Marylebone

Updated: Jun 24, 2018

It's been a while since I've been to Picture, but after yesterday's lunch, I'm sure I won't leave it that long to return.

It's the second restaurant of theirs, the first being in Fitzgrovia and having been to both a number of times, I would say Marylebone for a nice relaxing lunch, and Fitzgrovia for a more of a buzzier atmosphere in the evening.

Menu wise, there's plenty to choose from; a six course tasting menu, A La Carte where you're recommended to choose three savoury courses (generally vegetarian 1st course, 2nd fish and 3rd meat) and then move onto dessert if there's room, and the incredibly good value "Light Lunch" where for a mere £19 you get two courses, and £23 for three.

I opted for the A La Carte and throughly enjoyed every dish. I started with the slow cooked duck egg, asparagus, morels, guanciale (£11), wholegrain brandade, Provencal vegetables, baked aubergine (£11) and then the 28 day aged fillet of beef, bone marrow crumb, red wine sauce (£15).

With a glass of sparkling Hindleap Rosé to start, and a Portugese Pinot Noir from Grand'Arte with the lamb, it really was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Every dish was super clean, full of flavour and the seasonality of the high quliaty ingredients really shined through.

I sadly couldn't fit in dessert, but that's just another excuse to go back in the near future.
