Five Things I'm Doing This October

Well it has certainly been a bit of a miserable start to October in terms of the weather, but if I'm completely honest we're now entering my favourite time of the year. Wrapping up before leaving the house and cold dark nights spent indoors suit me just fine so I'm not complaining!

As always, I've come up with five suggestions for the month of October, so keep on reading if you need a bit of inspiration over the upcoming weeks.

HEARD in London - History, Eat, Art, Refresh and Discover

History

A very interesting online talk on A Mudlark's Treasures by Guildhall Library is taking place on the 7th of October. It's online, it's free and you can sign up here. I'm obsessed with the Thames and have always been fascinated with Mudlarking so I'm definitely going to be watching this one.

How about doing something a little different on a Friday night this month? On the 15th of October why not head down to a very Southwark Cathedral for what sounds like an interesting talk in a very atmospheric setting. The Five - An Evening with Haille Rubenhold will see the author going into more detail on her book about the five victims of Jack the Ripper. If you haven't read it, you really must, as it is a really fascinating look into the women whose lives so often get overlooked.

A very exciting exhibition is also opening at the British Library this month. Elizabeth and Mary: Royal Cousins, Rival Queens opens on the 8th and I honestly can't wait! BL always put on amazing exhibitions with no expense spared so I'm very excited to see this.

Eat

I spent September switching between Koya City, Go Falafel, The Salad Kitchen and Simple Health Kitchen. So this month I'm going to try my hardest to go somewhere else for lunch! I work just by Mansion house at the moment, and with only a short lunch break I don't really have that much choice. But on the list in walking distance are - Island Poke, Porterford Butchers, The Japanese Canteen and Assenheims. I'm very much open to suggestions so please drop me an email if you have any!

Art

I still haven't been to the National Gallery yet which is a shame, so hopefully I will have a bit of time to go at some point this month. Their exhibition Poussin and the Dance opens on the 9th, plus they've got loads of online events throughout the month too.

Refresh

I haven't had time to have much of a social life recently, so I can't recommend any swanky new wine bars to visit this month. So instead why not treat yourself to a few special bottles to have at home? My favourite suppliers at the moment are Vine Trail, Natty Boy Wines and Little Wine. Who else are you loving at the moment?

Discover

Hithe + Seek at Westin London City Hotel is opening this month! Come say hello ;)

I hope you have an amazing October,
